St. Luke Family of Caring Honors Their Many Volunteers from Across Organizations at Annual Celebration
St. Luke Family of Caring volunteers were recognized for the tremendous contributions made in the lives of those served by the local healthcare affiliates during a gathering held in their honor at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego. The gathering brought together volunteers of all ages from St. Luke, Bishop’s Commons and St. Francis Commons.

"Volunteers make a huge difference in the lives of those we care for and serve each and every day,” said St. Luke Volunteer Coordinator Debbie Corzett. “This luncheon in their honor is only a small token of our appreciation for all the time and diverse talents our nearly two hundred volunteers share with those we serve in our community."
During the luncheon, St. Francis Commons Activities Director Peggy LiVoti noted the critical role volunteers play in the day-to-day activities at all of our residences. “Our volunteers are always ready to lend a hand, helping to make all the activities and outings we provide throughout the year possible. It is through their help that we are able to keep folks connected with their community.”
Cheryl Cullinan, who oversees the volunteer program at Bishop’s Commons, complimented many local schools, including SUNY Oswego for the level of engagement she has seen from students, who either volunteer as part of various groups or individually, many after completing an internship. “We are fortunate to have a great relationship with our local schools; they contribute to a great atmosphere and learning environment for students and our residents alike.”
Last year volunteers at the three affiliates who ranged in age from 15 to 98 contributed over 4,000 hours of their time participating in hundreds of programs, activities and outings with residents.
“Volunteers can give of their time as often as they like,” explained Corzett. “Most programs are flexible enough to accommodate a variety of schedules, and many people who inquire are surprised at the varied opportunities we have available that allows someone to volunteer as their schedule permits, and help make a difference in the lives of our residents in our area.”
